San ravaged through the freezer in haste. It was too cold for her to stay for too long, and without the warmth of her wolf bretheren or her warm cloak, she would certainly freeze. Finally, she spotted it: a wrapped turkey.

Hungrily, she snatched it and, looking around cautiously to make sure that no one had seen, the Princess dashed with inhuman speed out of the back room of the food stall. She continued running long after she was out, just to be safe. As she ran, she began to think. Come on... the angels and demons have already destroyed all of the authorities... Even if they haven't, its not like anyone's gonna stop me. They're all too self-obsessed with staying alive themselves.

She stopped at the entrance of a bookstore, whose shelves were still chock full of novels, encylcopedias, etc.. "Then again," the knaving Princess thought aloud. "They'd want this as much as I do now..."

She slipped into the store, unnoticed... hopefully. As she made her way towards the back, she grabbed dictionaries, law books, and other large sources of text. Finally, she rested at the back and began tearing large groups of pages out of the books. She laid them down in a pile. What was she going to do?

She lit the set of papers with a match, then hastily ripped off the plastic wrap from the frozed turkey, which she began to cook over her small fire. As it cooked, Princess Mononoke withdrew a small object from her shirt and gave two short, inaudable blasts on it. Satisfied, she replaced the object and continued to "prepare her lunch."

Azusa woke to the smell of something cooking. She'd been sleeping behind the counter of a small cosmetics store, one of the few stores that had been completely deserted. (People still came into the food stalls and bookstore)

A few random books from the bookstore across were scattered behind her, she'd been reading to pass the time as a human, and using them to hide under as a mouse.

But that wasn't the biggest concern right now. Whatever was cooking, it smelled really good. Maybe...maybe if she brought some the few supplies she had, she could trade. Carefully sneaking across to the bookstore with her blankets, knives, and a bit of her own food, she prayed that it wasn't something ruthless eating in there...

San's ears instinctively drew back, narrowing her eyes. She had heard something. San whipped her head around (short brown hair slapping the sides of her head) and saw a timid-looking girl, younger than she. The Princess relaxed, and even smiled. This girl is harmless. She probably just smelled the food cooking.

"Come join me," San said in a rough, yet pleasant voice. "You look hungry." The wolf girl slid herself over and made room for the girl to sit - or lay, whichever sailed her boat. "I'm San," she then invited. "What are you called?"

Azusa nodded gratefully and sat down near the fire. Not only was she hungry, she was also cold. "Ah...I'm Azusa." She would have put her hand out to shake, but the other didn't look as if she cared much for human formalities. "Thank you." She'd just suprised herself; that was the most warmth her voice had held in a very long time.

San ignored the extended hand and looked at the roasting turkey. Maybe it's fully cooked... she thought, curious. She unsheathed the dagger that hung like a necklace around her neck, then grabbed a section of the turkey. Ignoring the heat as well, she hacked off a large chunk of the meat in one swift motion.

"Sorry it's hot," San began, handing over the thick slice. She turned back to the food and slashed off another big piece for herself. She hastily shoved the dagger back into its holster and then set a large quantity of the chunk in her mouth, tearing at it savagely like a starving man.

Azusa was glad that this human was so unselfish, and was willing to share. She looked more apt with weapons than she herself could ever hope to be. 'Thank god for that...' She muttered a soft "Itadakimasu," and bit into her food. Who cared how hot it was, when you had gone all yesterday without food?

San momentarily ceased her relentless feasting to slice off a few more chunks of the turkey. She laid them all "neatly" on the cover of an unburned book. (This was so the turkey would not get dirty from the floor.

Between gulps, San managed to get out a sentence. "So what are you exactly? You remind me of a mouse." San took a few more rapid bites, stuffing her mouth full. It was rude... but she was hungry!

San swallowed a huge bite and took a breather. "Can you guess? I probably remind you of something... I can only think of one thing I could remind you of..." She grinned, eyes sparkling. "If you can't guess, well..." She shrugged and took another large bite of the roasted turkey.

Azusa gingerly set all she hadn't eaten yet on her lap. "Wolf? Perfect. Other humans are wandering around with wolf comrads, and I'm stuck as a mouse the other ones don't even trust."

San laughed aloud. "You're right. Good job, mousey." She looked up, keep ears catching the extremely faint sound of claws clicking on tile flooring. Large, lethal claws of a wolf. She smiled to herself. My brothers will be here at any moment...
